David Turns 30!

My sweet hubby turned the big 3-0 this year. I wanted to do something fun for him, but didn't want to go with the traditional "Over the Hill" idea because I will be there in 2 more years and don't want to think of it as that old either! So I went with a "Trophy Husband" theme, all about him with a fun twist to it!

His birthday fell on Easter Sunday this year, so I decided to throw him a surprise party the Saturday before. It took alot of convincing and some help from the inlaws to get him and the kids out of the house that morning. I told him that I had some cake deliveries to make and he took the kids to the Thanksgiving Point Easter activity. While he was out my mom came over to help me cook and decorate, she was a life saver! All our families and some David's good friends came over while he was out so he would be surprised. We actually didn't hear him come home with the full house so he ended up hearing everyone when he walked in the garage door, but he was still surprised. We had home made Cafe Rio pork salads (one of David's favorites), tortilla chips & salsa, and a variety of drinks for lunch. It was so fun and so delicious! I love dessert tables! I ordered some fun size candy that went with the whole idea of the party for snacks. Cake and cupcake tower I made (tutorial coming soon). David's favorite cake is vanilla with chocolate frosting, yummo! Bobble head David! I had it made for him a couple years ago, just removed the golf club and put a mini trophy in his hand. I made these cupcake pics for fun with different clip art I found online. I thought they turned out pretty cute. I hung a frame on the wall with spoof pictures of David caught in the act of doing different things that make him a Trophy Husband (see previous post for details) The party favors These fabulous trophy cookies made by my good friend Gina from Lil G's Cookies Trophy Husband kits for the men Each guy got a kit to take home to help them perfect their own Trophy Husband status The contents included: Trophy husbands can't have gas! Dead Batteries for the remote control Disappearing ink to look like a miracle worker Glasses so you can zone out while the wife goes on and on... these were a huge hit! My brother modeling them for everyone! And my own trophy husband giving them a try... But these were definitely the crowd favorite! With Easter being the next day and all the family and kids were together, my sisters and I thought that it would be fun to also have an Easter egg hunt. There were TONS (300+) of eggs! The kids had such a blast. Good food + friends and family + lots of laughs
= one great party!

My Trophy Husband

"I saw a couple piles of laundry sitting there and figured I would do them since you already are doing SO MUCH for this family."

"With company coming I figured I'd go ahead and vacuum the floors since I already finished the dusting."

Bedtime Stories Baby Shower

One of my friends in our book club is prego with with her first girl after 3 boys! So I thought it would be fun to throw just a little surprise shower for her at our next meeting. I wanted to stay with a "book" theme because we were doing it as a book club and we all know I have to have a theme... So after looking around for many days I finally found the perfect one! I saw this Bedtime Stories theme on the blog Hostess With The Mostess and just fell madly in love! Now that I had my theme I could go with the details. I got a little "camera happy" with this shower so I apologize right now for all the pictures.

For the invites I just found a template online and filled in my info and printed them off. I Put them in a little cellophane baggie with some star confetti, sweet and simple. The tables were set up to look like little beds The milk bottles were just Starbucks Frappuccino bottles all washed and cleaned out, and the straws I bought on etsy from Hey Yo Yo. For food we had Lullaby Lemonade Crescent Moon Croissants And Star Kissed (pasta) Salad I also put a couple bedtime books on the table for a little decoration For the Bedtime Snack table I hung some baby jammies and a teddy bear on the wall from a clothes line for the back drop. I had a lot of fun thinking of snacks for this party... Moon Rock Candy Dream Cloud Donuts Yes, I sparkled the donuts a bit! Storybook Cupcakes The books were just made of fondant, and I put them inside a storage box book I just got at Michaels. Gotta have some milk before bed! I found these adorable Lil Moon Bookmarks that came inside a little nursery rhyme book online and thought that they were just perfect to give as favors for the book club ladies! Well that is finally all the pictures I took. Thanks for sticking with me and hope you all enjoyed! I know I had a blast planning it and hope that the mommy to be had a good time as well. Now onto planning the next event!!!
